Indian actor, producer, and politician Jatin Khanna (29 December 1942 – 18 July 2012) worked in Hindi films throughout his career.”First Superstar of Bollywood,” starred in 15 solo hero films between 1969 and 1971. During the 1970s and 1980s, he was considered the highest-paid actor in the Hindi cinema industry. Four of his accolades include the Best Film Journalist Award (BFJA) and the Filmfare Award (FFA). In 2013, he gave the Padma Bhushan Award posthumously, the third-highest civilian award in India. On 18 July 2012, Khanna passed away after a prolonged illness.

As a tribute to his work, the Prime Minister of India has honored him with a stamp and a statue bearing his likeness, and he has also renamed a road in his honor. By 2014, a new biography focused on the life of Rajesh Khanna that was written by Yasser Usman, and released by Penguin Books, was published. Narayanan Subramanian wrote his memoir “Rajesh Khanna The Most Versatile Superstar Actor of Hindi Cinema” in 2022. On 29 December 1942, when Rajesh Khanna was born into a Punjabi Hindu Khatri family. He was born ‘Jatin Khanna’ in Amritsar in the Punjab Province of British India, on 29 December 1942. Chunnilal Khanna and Leelawati Khanna, who were relatives of his biological parents, adopted and raised him as their child. His father migrated from West Punjab to Gali Tiwarian in Amritsar after he had migrated from West Punjab. The biological parents of Lala Hiranand Khanna were Chandrani Khanna and Lala Hiranand Khanna. Lala, a teacher of mathematics and English, worked for many years as the headmaster of the MC High School in Burewala (now a part of the Vehari District in Punjab).

His adoptive parents came from a family of railway contractors from Lahore who had moved to Bombay in 1935 to start a new life in the new city. He lived in the Saraswati Niwas, located in Thakur-war near Girgaon, in the Mumbai area. At the age of fourteen, he attended St. Sebastian’s Goan High School, where he attended with his friend Ravi Kapoor, later known as Jeetendra. Khanna fell in love with Anju Mahendru in the late 1960s and early 1970s. They were in a seven-year relationship. They ended their relationship when Khanna demanded Mahendru quit her acting career. Mahendru claims the couple didn’t speak for 17 years after their breakup.
