A Tamil Brahmin family hailing from Tamilnadu, Adah Sharma was born in Mumbai into a Bengali-speaking family. As a child, she had a father, S. L. Sharma, a captain in the merchant navy, and a mother, a classical dancer. When she was in the tenth grade, she decided to be an actress when she grew up. Her parents, however, insisted that she complete her schooling at least despite her desire to drop out of school. She stopped studying after she completed her twelfth grade to spend more time with her family. Sharma is a gymnast.
